What is plywood?
plywood is a composite board made of multiple layers of thin wood sheets (veneers) bonded together with
adhesive. The layers are usually cross-grained, with the grain of each layer perpendicular to the adjacent
layers, which increases the stability and strength of the board and reduces the possibility of warping or
deformation under different humidity conditions.
Plywood is available in a variety of thicknesses, sizes and wood species to meet the needs of different construction, furniture manufacturing and other wood products. Some of its advantages include good mechanical properties, easy processing, flat surface and relatively highcost-effectiveness. Plywood can also be divided into multiple grades and types depending on its application, materials used and production process. Due to these characteristics, plywood is widely used in interior decoration, furniture making, packaging boxes, building formwork and other fields.
Classification by performance:
Class I - Weather-resistant and boiling water-resistant plywood. This type of plywood is durable, resistant to boiling or steam treatment, and is suitable for outdoor use.
Class II - Water-resistant plywood. It can withstand cold water or short-term hot water immersion, but not boiling.
Class III - Non-moisture-resistant plywood. Suitable for general use, not suitable for humid environments.
Material selection suggestions
Building load-bearing: Choose birch plywood with a thickness of 18mm or more, and the longitudinal static bending strength should be
greater than 30MPa.
Wet environment: WBP-grade plywood is preferred, with edge banding technology (PVC edge banding).
