Connect every delivered piece to its installation position
A veneer sequence map identifies each installed position, the physical pieces delivered for it and their orientation. Carry those identities through cutting, finishing, packing and installation. Give a cut-out door and its surround separate piece codes linked to the same parent panel.
Choose the leaf pattern and the finished colour range first. This guide then counts and locates the selected pieces, including recuts and reserves.
What does sequence matched veneer mean for installation?
A sequence requirement describes the order in which identified panels should be arranged to create the agreed appearance. It needs a panel map as well as labels. The map should show viewing direction, panel position, face orientation and any intentional restart of the sequence.
Keep the face-matching instruction separate: a panel can use book matching within its face while also belonging to a larger numbered sequence. If a door is cut from a panel, link the door and surrounding pieces to that parent panel before the parts are separated.

- Show top, visible face and installation direction using the agreed drawing convention.

- Keep the affected position, adjoining panels and retained appearance information together.
Can a spare veneer panel replace any position in a matched wall?
Not necessarily. A spare may differ visibly from neighbouring panels even when it has the same species and finish. Agree whether a spare is assigned to a specific position, a defined range or a separate replacement group. Record that intention before packing so its purpose is not lost during installation.

Label the panel position, part number and drawing version
An installation position remains useful after a panel is cut or replaced. Give each delivered piece its own identity and link it to the drawing position, parent material and revision. This keeps an old or superseded piece distinguishable from its replacement without changing the location it belongs to.

Ask the offer to describe the actual arrangement and dimensions being supplied. The numbered project file carries that chosen arrangement through cutting and delivery.
Choose labels for the selected finish
Agree whether identification sits on the reverse, protective wrapping, a sacrificial area or a tested removable label. Trial its application, storage and removal with the actual surface and cure instructions before using it on finished pieces. Keep a legible part code and orientation mark where handlers can find them safely. A barcode or QR code may supplement the written reference when the receiving workflow uses one.
Use a stable position and a separate physical piece code
LOBBY-E1-P03 identifies a position. P03-F and P03-D identify its surround and door. A replacement keeps the position but receives its own piece or revision code. Mark installed top, viewing face and grain direction separately.
Locate each piece without opening every pack
Put the piece codes and quantities on the bundle list and give receiving the matching elevation. Keep adjoining groups together where the packing plan permits. Identify reserves by their intended replacement position; use the loading guide for pack dimensions, mass and unloading constraints.

What this means for the order
The packing record should help locate a panel without relying on face appearance alone. Confirm positions at receiving and keep the map available until the installation and any spare allocation are complete.
Reconcile panel positions with delivered piece counts
Extend the lobby plan with chosen geometry: six 600 × 2400 mm front faces P01–P06. P03 has a retained 400 × 600 mm door zone; the surrounding face is P03-F and the cut-out is P03-D. SP01 is one additional complete face allocated to the P03 replacement arrangement. The actual drawing and process set the door clearances, kerf, usable blank and frame detail.

Installed components total 5 + 1 + 1 = 7 pieces across six panel positions. With SP01 there are eight delivered pieces. Chosen front-face geometry is 7.20 + 1.20 + 0.24 = 8.64 m² installed and 10.08 m² including the reserve. P03 is the parent record once its two children are delivered. The actual cutting plan accounts for losses, machining and any separately supplied replacement door.
Make the pack list usable in installation order
For the same chosen allocation, place the first group and its door children together, the remaining wall group in the next pack, and the reserve in an identified storage pack. Use actual piece dimensions, weight and protection needs to confirm the packaging and unloading plan.

Reconcile every handover
At cutting, map child identities before separation. After processing and finish, keep the selected face/range reference with the part revision. Before dispatch, compare the labelled group with the elevation and reconcile each pack’s piece codes and counts. At receiving, record actual pack identity, quantities and condition; locate the parts using the same map and report an identified discrepancy before it disrupts the planned installation.
For a recut or replacement, record the reason, old piece disposition, new piece code/revision and affected group. Review adjoining appearance, finish, fit and any revised reserve allocation. Update the drawing, pack list and quotation together so the supplier and installer work from the same current arrangement.

Compare the complete labelled supply
Put the full board/veneer construction, front/reverse finish, matched positions and dimensions on the offer. Identify supplied cutting, machining, doors/returns, edging, finish, identification, protection and selected spares, with the operations left for your workshop. Compare cost for the complete required installation group and reserve scope on the same named FOB/CIF terms.
Request one representative joined detail for the selected material and finish, with the proposed labelling method and parent-child record. Ask the material file to identify the offered panel, veneer/core/gauges/bond, relevant product data, finish references and actual pack/part map. Your actual drawing and quantity schedule provide the order inputs.
Questions buyers ask
Can panels be reordered during installation?
Change the arrangement only after checking the new adjoining group against the accepted elevation and finished range. Record the revised positions before installing it; moving a panel can alter grain and colour continuity.
Should every replacement have a new position number?
No. Keep the installation position and assign the replacement a distinct piece or revision reference. Record which old piece is superseded and which piece is installed.
Are six panel positions always six delivered pieces?
No. A panel position can contain more than one delivered piece. A parent panel can produce a surround, door or return with separate delivered identities. Count actual deliverables and reconcile them to the parent position; keep the selected reserves separately identified.
Is the top arrow always the grain arrow?
No. Installed top and grain direction describe different orientations. Mark installed top and grain direction separately on the actual drawing. A horizontal-grain part still has a top and viewing face; the agreed convention should identify each clearly.
How should a recut be recorded?
Link the changed child to its parent, drawing position and new revision. Record the superseded piece disposition, revised dimensions and adjoining-face/fit review before updating the pack list.
Can labels be applied directly to the finished face?
Use a direct-face label only after its application, storage and removal have been tested on that finish. Otherwise use a suitable reverse, wrapping or sacrificial-area label that retains a readable part code.
