TURN THE APPLICATION INTO A SHORTLIST
Buy for the part, the finish and the way you make it.
Two panels with the same face and thickness can lead to different workshop costs. Start with the detail that affects your finished product, then compare the proposed constructions on the same drawing.
Scroll horizontally to compare all columns.
| Your production priority | Shortlist | What makes the choice worthwhile | Decide with this trial |
|---|---|---|---|
| A cabinet edge that stays visible | Birch-faced plywood with birch, poplar or eucalyptus core. | The inner veneer pattern becomes part of the design. Choose the construction whose cut edge works with your coating and the finish your customer expects. | Machine and finish the same edge profile. Compare visible gaps, repairs, sanding time and the finished appearance. |
| A cabinet part with covered edges | Commercial or birch-faced plywood; poplar, birch or eucalyptus core. | Edge banding covers the veneer pattern. Focus the spend on the face, machining, fitting and handling needed for that component. | Use the planned edge band, hinge or connector. Record finished-part weight, fit, cutting loss and processing time. |
| A matched set of wood-finished doors | Fancy plywood with the named veneer and single- or double-face arrangement. | Panel sequence, grain matching and colour under the final coating determine how the doors look together. | Lay out adjoining faces and coat them with the intended finish. Retain the set reference for the order. |
| Concrete-facing panels for a forming system | Film or shuttering plywood with the specified core, film weight and face arrangement. | Compare working-face finish, edge treatment and the complete board in your forming process. Reuse cost depends on the actual handling, release agent and working conditions. | Record concrete finish, cleaning, edge condition and usable cycles under the same site procedure. |
| A load-bearing floor or permanently exposed component | The structural or exterior route for the required grade and service conditions. | Use panel grade, strength direction, support spacing and exposure requirements to select the construction and its supporting data. | Match the proposed panel documents to the design and installation. A workshop fit trial complements the design review. |
For a birch cabinet shortlist, compare our birch-faced and all-birch constructions. For painted or routed parts, compare the complete manufacturing route in our plywood vs MDF guide.
Structural selection: grade, direction and supports
APA’s plywood selection guidance describes how grade, exposure classification, support spacing and load direction affect rated structural-panel selection. Its classifications apply within the referenced North American system. Specify the standards and documents required for your destination and proposed CUZI panel.
CHOOSE THE SHEET AROUND YOUR CUTTING LIST
Compare cost per usable part.
Our regular commercial formats are 1220 × 2440, 1250 × 2500 and 1525 × 3050 mm. Choose the format that fits the parts you produce, your machine bed and grain direction. Ask for quotations for the same construction in each suitable format.
Cutting calculation: 200 parts at 600 × 400 mm
This rectangular grid keeps each part’s 600 mm side parallel to the sheet’s long direction. It allows 5 mm trimming on every outer edge and a 3 mm saw kerf between parts. Whole sheets are purchased; remaining parts and strips can be assigned to another item in your cutting list.
Scroll horizontally to compare all columns.
| Sheet format | Parts per sheet | Sheets for 200 parts | Purchased area |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1220 × 2440 mm | 12 (3 × 4) | 17 | 50.6056 m² |
| 1250 × 2500 mm | 12 (3 × 4) | 17 | 53.1250 m² |
| 1525 × 3050 mm | 15 (3 × 5) | 14 | 65.1175 m² |
Panel cost per required part is the purchased sheet count × quoted sheet price ÷ 200. For this layout, the larger format reduces the purchased sheet count. Its quoted price per sheet must be below 17 ÷ 14, or about 1.214 times the 1220 × 2440 price, to reduce panel cost for the 200 required parts. Compare handling, cutting time and the value of reusable offcuts as separate items. These are geometric calculations; actual output also depends on machining allowances and accepted-part loss.
For long components or a different nesting pattern, quote 1220 × 3050, 1250 × 3660 mm or another requested format. Send the finished dimensions, grain direction, quantities and trimming allowance with your cut-to-size inquiry.

What do hardwood and softwood tell you?
They identify wood-species categories. The USDA Wood Handbook explains these categories and wood properties. Put actual veneer species and core construction in your quotation; use measured panel data and the relevant grade documents for weight or performance comparisons.
THE FACE AND THE INNER VENEERS
Keep the core choice visible in your quotation.
Poplar, birch and eucalyptus are confirmed core options in our Commercial Plywood range. A face species and a core species are separate fields. Include the actual lay-up, bond, nominal thickness and intended processing when comparing the proposed combinations.
Poplar core
Review the proposed board’s weight, cut edge, fitting and finish on your component. Use the Poplar Core Plywood page for its supply specification.
Birch core

MAKE THE SAMPLE ANSWER YOUR BUYING QUESTION
Trial the face, edge and part together.
Select a named product before requesting the sample so the thickness, core and face discussion follows that board. For a visible cabinet part, include the cut edge, intended coating, adjacent material and fitting detail.
- Define the sample: Product, construction, size, surface and the detail your workshop will test.
- Record the result: Thickness fit, appearance, machining, joint or coating observations under the agreed conditions.
- Carry the choice into the order: Retain the material references, physical sample and drawing revision with the quotation.
Each product page includes a matching sample worksheet and inquiry outline. Browse product buying tools, or use our guides to inspect veneer layers and core details and review the exposed plywood edge.
YOUR FIRST CONTAINER AND THE NEXT
Turn the selected panels into a clear order mix.
Start with one container and combine items in a mixed load. Keep face/core construction, size, nominal or finished thickness and quantity on separate order lines. Add packing labels, finish protection and the receiving requirements for each item.
Regular production takes 10–15 days, with shipping additional and the item schedule confirmed in quotation. Request FOB with the shipment port or CIF with your destination port. Samples are free; buyer courier freight applies, with a later-order freight credit available by agreement.
Use the mixed-panel SKU schedule and plywood RFQ checklist when the details are ready. For product documents, start with the named panel’s materials, required method and destination; company certificates support the supplier discussion.
Questions behind your plywood order.
Does softwood plywood always have an all-softwood core?
Name the actual inner species and layer arrangement. CUZI’s pine-faced range offers poplar, birch, eucalyptus or all-pine cores; request all-pine inner veneers when that is the construction you need.
Which pine sample should I choose?
Use the pine-faced path to discuss the face and selected core. Use the all-pine path when pine inner veneers are required. Both follow the Pine Plywood range and retain that product in your sample request.
Does hardwood-faced plywood identify the core?
It identifies the requested hardwood veneer face. State the core material and layer arrangement separately, including whether you require a particular species throughout the panel.
How do I choose between birch, Okoume and a decorative veneer?
Start with the visible wood and the component. Compare face/back grade or veneer matching, core, thickness and the intended coating, edge and hardware trial using the named product pages.
Which thickness and sheet size should I specify?
Use the confirmed range on the selected product page, then state sheet dimensions or a finished-part list. A coating, facing or fabricated component also needs its finished thickness and tolerances identified.
Does the hardwood name establish structural or outdoor performance?
Request the bond, exposure or structural requirements and relevant documents for the proposed construction. Connect any performance requirement with the panel, component and installation described by your project.
Can I compare products before requesting a sample?
Yes. The comparison tool presents the named product’s size, supply options and sample priorities. Follow its product page to choose a representative sample and preserve that product in the request.
